Record on your phone, send to Transcribe-It
Two taps. Works on iPhone and Android.
Why not record in the browser?
Mobile browsers stop the recording as soon as your screen locks or you switch apps. Your phone's built-in voice recorder is built for this — it keeps running in the background, handles interruptions, and saves cleanly. Use that, then hand the file off to us.
Install Transcribe-It first (do this once)
Installing the app puts Transcribe-It in your phone's share sheet. That's what makes the two-tap flow below possible — without install, you'd need to upload each recording manually through your browser.
- iPhone (Safari): tap the Share button, scroll, tap Add to Home Screen.
- Android (Chrome): tap the three-dot menu, tap Install app or Add to Home screen.
On iPhone
- Open Voice Memos.
- Tap the red record button. Speak. Tap to stop.
- Tap the recording in the list, then tap the share icon (square with an up-arrow).
- Scroll the share sheet, tap Transcribe-It.
- Transcribe-It opens to your Recordings page with the new file highlighted. Tap Submit.
On Android
- Open your Recorder app — Google Recorder, Samsung Voice Recorder, or whatever ships with your phone.
- Tap record. Speak. Tap to stop.
- Open the recording, tap the share icon (or the three-dot menu → Share).
- Pick Transcribe-It from the share targets.
- Transcribe-It opens to your Recordings page with the new file highlighted. Tap Submit.
On a Mac or PC
Skip the recording step. Drag and drop an audio file onto the upload page or use the file picker. If you have a long meeting or interview already saved somewhere, this is the fastest path.
What happens next
- We process the audio (usually a minute or two).
- You get an email with the transcript, a concise summary, and action points.
- The result also lives in your dashboard under Jobs.
Good to know
- Supported audio formats: m4a, mp3, wav, ogg, opus, mp4. Most phone recorders save in m4a — that works.
- Max size for a single share: about 500 MB. For voice notes, that's far more than you'll ever need — long meetings and interviews fit comfortably.
- We only see the audio long enough to transcribe it. The file is deleted from our storage as soon as transcription completes. See Privacy for the full retention policy.
